Shamashanga Camp, Zambezi River, Zimbabwe
Of the nine times I have been to Africa, my trip to Shamashanga was one of the best. It was the first time fishing on the Zimbabwe side of the river – the fishing was fantastic! We caught double figure tigerfish, the biggest was fourteen pounds plus nice bream. The camp was very well run by Gavin and Mina who did everything possible to make it a great experience.
The food was fantastic and the snacks served before dinner were a treat, the lodges comfortable and well looked after, nothing was too much bother for the staff. The boats gave you plenty of room to fish with a fly rod or spinning rod, andon our last day Gavin and Mina took us to the airport via a game drive, on which we saw a lot of game, plus making sure we got to the airstrip in time.
I would recommend Shamashanga without hesitation, with Gavin and Mina in charge this camp will be one of the best on the river. I will return as soon as possible…..
