The original idea behind this site was the result of work done by Clint Nursten and John Berry on the "kariba-Net" and "Zimbabwe Network" sites in 1995 and 1996. The support of Rob Nursten's Data Control and Systems UUNet IAfrica team in Harare over long tiring nights and weekends both in Harare and Kariba is much appreciated. Since then, many hundreds of hours have gone into sorting this thing out. We will no doubt continue to do so for a long time to come with the help and advice of lots of other computer geeks and bush boys until we retire rich and happy in the bush - well maybe just happy is OK.
Many thanks to the many ex Rhodies, Zimbos and friends who have sent us comments and criticism - if we had a cold beer for each one we'd never get any work done! We received over 150 e-mails with suggestions within 4 particular days in May 97 (when we only had one or two safari enquiries by e-mail a day).
Special thanks in random order are due to Lani Thompson, James Paill, Grant Day, Dave Cooper, Bert Stakenborg, Peter Unstead, Ken Holmes, Nick and Kelly le Guern, Amanda, Eric, Wendy Cunliffe, Jeremy Woodhouse, David Huntley, Hugh Nangle, Derick Benatar, Dilip Gulab, Valerie Gardner.[Updated 26 June 1997]
| How things have changed since October 1 1995 when our first website was launched at about 03:15 in the morning! The internet has exploded - our business has grown - we've had an absolute gas over the last few years. With another 22 domains in our network and thousands of hours having gone into our web stuff, we're not a "dot com" company, we're still a bunch of bush people who'd prefer to be on safari...(still happy, still not rich) [note placed 5 July 2000] |
