The best experience is unquestionably a walking safari (there are a number of different options available). This puts you right in touch with the bush. Both Matusadona and Mana Pools are excellent for walking safaris. The canoe safaris (particularly from Chirundu to Mana Pools and Mana Pools to Chewore are both popular as adventure activities and are "game-rich". Matusadona has arguably the largest concentration of Lions after Ngorogoro Crater. It is also one of the last remaining wild sanctuaries of the endangered Black Rhino. It has a high concentration of Elephants and Buffalo. If you want to see the "Big Five" - go to Matusadona. Mana Pools has a high concentration of big game on the Zambezi River shoreline. It is also well known for its population of endangered Wild Dog. |
