Bulawayo
Bulawayo, meaning "place of slaughter" (due to its colourful past!) is one of Zimbabwe's oldest and most historically important towns. This is the capital of Matabeland and where many of the imports coming into Zimbabwe are re-packed and sent off into the interior.
It is also the centre of the big game hunters of old and trading has always been a part of daily business. The rail link from Cape to Cairo passes through Bulawayo on its way to Victoria Falls although it doesn't usually stop unless supplies are required.
