The higher slopes of the mountain are always cold. The town of Moshi is low lying and hot by day, cool by night althought it can be quite humid. The climbs can be done anytime of the year although it is much more difficult during rainy season specifically March through to May.

Tips and Notes

Tips and Notes

Most people climb the "Marangu Route" or tourist route as it is known locally. It is usually the cheapest option with the best facilities but is more trampled than any of the other routes.

Dinner, bed, breakfast are included at the hotel before and afterwards with full board on the mountain. Altitude sickness may affect some from around the 3rd onwards.

Other Options

Other less 'touristy' routes are the Machame Route, Umbwe Route via Barafu and the Londorossi Route.

Please let your consultant know if you would like a PRIVATE or a GROUP departure. In general a Saturday arrival for a Sunday climb is the most popular and certain times of the year are busier than others. If you'd like to join a group let us know the dates closest to the date you'd like to climb and we'll try to tie you up with a group climb.

There is a ladies only and a singles only climb available on certain dates in 2008 and 2009.
