One of the rarest experiences in Africa and a true highlight for any adventurer. Paddle the 70km waterway of the Selinda Spillway from the Okavango Delta to the Linyanti, in north eastern Botswana. An epic journey and any explorer's dream.
Where is it?
For 70km along the Selinda Spillway in the 320 000 acre private Selinda Reserve in north eastern Botswana.
What is the best time of year to go?
The Selinda canoe trail runs from late May to early October, with guaranteed weekly departures of a maximum of eight guests with our experienced guide. This is when the annual floods are at their highest making the journey possible. This is the only experience of this kind in Botswana.
How to get there
By scheduled flights to Maun and then by private charter to Selinda airstrip. There is the choice of beginning or extending the canoe safari with a stay at the two permanent tented camps on the Selinda Reserve.
Total distance covered is 45kms; younger children may find this distance tiring.
Tips and Notes
Each evening is spent under the stars on one of the Spillway's islands, at a camp prepared and hosted by a full back-up team. Scrumptious meals are cooked and served around the camp fire.
This is a fully hosted experience including all meals, snacks and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
Guaranteed departure canoe dates. Children 8 to 12 years may only be hosted on a privately booked canoe safari.
