A superb safari covering two of the main highlights in Southern Malawi. With big game viewing in Liwonde National Park and a relaxing stay on a pretty island in the south of the lovely lake of stars, Lake Malawi. This safari is suitable for a honeymoon, a family trip or just a wonderful holiday set in this most hospitable of countries.

In the southern stretches of Lake Malawi and Liwonde National Park, also in the south of the country.
What is the best time of year to go?
Rainy season is from end of November to end of March annually. Although the rainy season can be exceptionally wet, it is still possible to enjoy most activities as the rains are heavy and hard, lasting around an hour, with brilliant sun before and after.
How to get there
Road transfer from Lilongwe to Liwonde National Park and an air transfer from Liwonde to Lake Malawi. At the end of the visit on Lake Malawi, a short flight back to Lilongwe.
Tips and Notes
The game viewing is excellent in Liwonde however do not expect huge open plains with vast quantities of game. This safari is best enjoyed by those looking for a bit of game viewing mixed with the relaxing beach style visit to the lake.
Activities on the lake are varied from kayaking, diving, snorkelling and sailing while there are also cultural activities to be experienced on the island.
Malawi is good value for money as it is a little off the beaten track and less known than some of its big game neighbours like Tanzania, South Africa and Zambia.
