Botswana and Zambia with Richard and Andrea
We arrived back in England this morning to temperatures of 0` to -2`! What a contrast!
Andrea and I found your choices to be first class for our needs – we met a number of people throughout our tour who stayed at other camps or lodges and generally they had one of their selection was poor, but for us we enjoyed them all in diffent ways.
Gunns Camp has Jinxy in charge who was really enthusiastic and kept the team on their toes. The guides were excellent and the mix of motor boats with walking tours and the mokoros provided such variety – including being charged by an elephant (who decided it was only a mock charge…. we had already taken flight with our guide!). The tents had recently been up-graded and were very comfortable – a great start!
We actually went to Pom Pom with another English couple who we got on well with – the evening meals all together are great for getting to know people. Pom Pom was also a great camp….The guides however were great and as we were there for 4 nights we really got some real insight into the animals, birds and ecology of the delta. And we saw leopard, plus two young lions eating a kill they made overnight! Superb….
Then on to Muchenje – the longer drive to the Chobe National Park meant earlier starts (we had been spoilt in the Delta), but what really hit us was the view over the flood plain – spectacular! JJ knew how to manage the team, without being obvious he made sure all ticked along like clockwork…. a real skill! The guides were also great and the day-long drive including a boat trip was brilliant – we were lucky again seeing lion, leopard, plus wild dogs!!! We did start to get storms and had one 45 minute experience sitting on a boat on the Chobe under ponchos getting soaked waiting for the thunder and lightning to move on! All part of the experience – it is amazing how much the area will change when the water levels rise.
Finally you provided us with the Islands of Siankaba – a fitting end to a fantastic trip! The opportunity to relax, enjoy the food and tranquility was perfect, plus the challenge of the devil’s plunge pool above the Falls! Andrea wasn’t too sure whether to do it, but she did! We didn’t go over to Zim, but still felt we saw enough of the spectacle. A wonder of the world!
So all in all a perfect break in 4 great locations and loads to see and do. Thanks for your help and we will recommend Zambezi Safari and Travel to our friends, family and any one else we like who wants a brilliant experience!
Thanks very much again!
