Brendon Cremer Photographer
Brendon Cremer - specialist wildlife photographer and experienced photographic safari guide.
Zimbabwe born Brendon’s passion for Africa and African wildlife is apparent in his wonderful photography. He spent his early childhood outdoors whenever possible and developed a love of nature which quickly became a large part of his life. During his school years he became heavily involved in the conservation and research of the school’s own game reserve. During the long school holidays Brendon worked in the Kariba area and in the Matusadona National Park which gave him the ideal opportunity to build on his knowledge of African nature and wildlife.
On completing his education, Brendon went to work in the Matusadona National Park where he studied all aspects of the African bush from insects, mammals and birds to plants, flora and fauna. With his apprenticeship under his belt, Brendon became a professional guide conducting walking trails within the Matusadona National Park, stalking and tracking big game and studying animal behaviour became part of his daily routine. Brendon spent a few years in Zimbabwe’s Mana Pools National Park, the Lower Zambezi and Hwange National Parks and in Botswana and Zambia. He then settled in the Kazangula area on the Upper Zambezi in Victoria Falls and in the Chobe National Park where he guided big game, walking trails, fishing and birding safaris. It was during this time that Brendon developed his “obsession” for photography.
The collapse of the economy and political unrest in Zimbabwe forced his family to return to South Africa (where his family’s roots were). Brendon and his wife worked at the Sabi Sand Game Reserve as Lodge Managers. This was the perfect opportunity for Brendon to spend 4 years photographing the resident wildlife, including the reserve’s big cats. The opportunity to build an extensive understanding and knowledge of feline habitats and habits - they remain one of his big passions.
Today, based in Nelspruit, Brendon works as a Conservationist, tour leader, guide, adventurer and specialist wildlife photographer. He guides and hosts workshops, photography tours, and photographic safaris in eastern and southern Africa. Brendon says he has a “deep respect and understanding for Africa and its wildlife” he aims, through his safaris, to “allow the traveller not only to enhance their photography, but also gain a lifelong admiration for Africa and culture. Being a professional wildlife photographer, photographic guide and a highly experienced safari guide myself, I know what the photographer is after, therefore I can help make sure that my photo safari, workshop or tour is a photographic adventure of a lifetime.” His guests return home with “not only exceptional images but also a new admiration for Africa and its wildlife.”
Brendon describes his photography as “capturing a moment in time that’s gone forever, impossible to reproduce”.
