This is a convenient and affordable complex located 2km from the heart of Victoria Falls Town on the Zimbabwean side of Victoria Falls offering a range of accommodation for the budget-conscious traveler.

Savanna Backpacker Lodge offers a full range of budget accommodation options and accommodates up to 40 guests:

  • 8 x twin bedded rooms
  • 3 x double rooms
  • 4 x dorm rooms (approximately 20 guests;ideal for groups on a budget; each dorm has 3 to 5 beds)
  •  A well equipped campsite (up to 40 guests)
  • Shared ablution facilities for all accommodation types with toilets, showers, basins and hot/cold running water.

The lodge has a central communal area with outside dining and braai area, large, open outdoor fireplace, swimming pool, open plan bar and lounge area with DVD/TB player, reception, and internet café with phone and fax facilities.

Please note if you're looking for luxury accommodation this is NOT the right place for you! Savanna Lodge offers fun affordable accommodation for visitors on a budget.

The lodge is the ideal base from which to explore Victoria Falls town, the Victoria Falls themselves and participate in the many adventure and adrenalin activities on offer including:

Other adventure activities such as riverboarding, bungi jumping, abseiling, gorge swings and helicopter flights etc. All can be booked whilst staying at Masuwe but at an extra cost. Tours to Chobe National Park in Botswana can also be easily arranged.

Victoria Falls is pretty much all within National Parks land and therefore a wide variety of wildlife can be viewed almost anywhere. Buffalo, elephant, baboons, warthog, kudu, impala, vervet monkeys and impala are very common sightings, even in the residential areas. Lions and leopards have also been occasionally spotted around the town.

The Zambezi National Park is home to numerous other species of wildlife including giraffe, bushbuck, waterbuck, crocodiles, hyena, civet cats, hippo, kingfishers, fish eagles, tawny eagles, grey louries, and so the list goes on.

No minimum age requirements

Savanna Backpacker Lodge is open year round unless otherwise advised.
The lodge is ideal for self-drivers as it is easily accessible in both two and four wheel drive vehicles. Transfers to the various activities are usually included and a taxi service is available from the lodge.

All flights arrive at either the Victoria Falls airport, Zimbabwe or the Livingstone airport, Zambia and the lodge will arrange transfers at extra cost (see transfer section below for details).

For guests who are travelling from Livingstone border, Zambia and Kazangula border, Botswana, travel arrangements can be easily made upon request.

You could fly into either Livingstone or Victoria Falls International Airport where you'll be met and transferred by road to the lodge which is situated approximately 20 minutes drive from the Victoria Falls Airport. It is approximately forty minutes from Livingstone Airport excluding the customs and immigration delay at the border post. Guests may also self-drive direct to the lodge, directions are available on request.

We advise all clients check with their local embassy/consulate prior to travel as they will be able to advise the most up to date and accurate information regarding visas. Safari Par Excellence accepts no responsibility for visa fees.

We advise all guests to consult their local physician for the latest health requirements regarding Zimbabwe and Victoria Falls prior to their departure from their home country.
All clients are covered by Medical Air Rescue Service (MARS); however this only covers you for emergency evacuation in life threatening situations. It does not cover hospitalisation and medication. As such travel and medical insurance is compulsory for all clients. Please arrange this insurance in your own country prior to leaving so as to cover unexpected medical expenses and loss / theft of personal effects. Please ensure you bring the details of your insurance policy with you. We will not be able to cover you if you do not have the insurance.
