What is the position on malaria?

Malaria is endemic in the Zambezi Valley. Chloroquine resistance is prevalent. The worst time for malaria is from mid-February to about May.

Despite the scare stories - malaria can be avoided.

Sensible precautions are necessary:

  • Speak to your physician before you come and stick to the course of prescribed prophylactics.
  • Use physical barriers.
    • Deet-based repellants work - we use Off! and Autan.
    • Use a mosquito net - all of our camps, lodges, walking and canoe safaris have them.

We live here, we're not immune, we take good care and don't contract malaria!
