The cost of a hunting safari is broken up into 3 distinct categories;

In addition there are certain "hidden costs" which need to be considered.

Travel Expenses

Your travel expenses include all airfares (international, domestic and private charter where necessary), travel insurance, accommodation/activities before and after the hunt, all purchases of a personal nature, gratuities etc. Generally speaking travel expenses are arranged and paid for directly by the client. A sister company, "The Zambezi Safari and Travel Co." specialises in travel to Zimbabwe and should be contacted if assistance is required.

Some general notes:

  • We recommend that all airfares be purchased outside of Zimbabwe. From experience you're likely to get a better deal from your local travel agent. If assistance is required we recommend James Ewart of Grenadier Safaris (Colchester UK) - contact him via e-mail on james@grenadir.demon.co.uk.
  • Travel Insurance is essential. For US residents we recommend Universal Travel Protection. We strongly recommend that you obtain the following types of insurance which are commercially available:
    • Accidental death and disability
    • Emergency medical evacuation
    • Major Medical
    • Loss of personal effects
    • Trip cancellation

Daily Rates

The daily hunt rate includes the services of your Professional Hunter (PH), hunting vehicles, support staff, accommodation, food and beverages and laundry during the hunt.

Local transfers in and out of camp are included. Certain areas require private charters to access - these transfers are considered to be travel expenses and not included in the daily rate. (Where applicable these transfers will be detailed in the offer or can be identified from the relevant outfitter pages).

Accommodation varies from fly camps to lodges. This will depend upon the property on which the hunt will take place. Details will be provided with the offer or can be viewed under the different outfitter pages.

Support staff are responsible for skinning, field preparation, salting of trophies, delivery of trophies to local taxidermist/shipping agent.

Food is generally of a high standard including full or light breakfasts, picnic or camp lunches and full suppers served in the comfort of camp. Meals include beef, venison, chicken, vegetables in season etc. Beverages are all from local supply - if you have any specific preferences, please check availability in advance or bring your own favourite. Special diets can be catered for - advance notice is required.

As laundry is done in camp on a daily basis or as required, there is no need to bring too many changes of clothing.

Trophy fees

"Trophy fees" include all animals shot or wounded/lost. The Zimbabwe government or concession/lease holder determines these rates. Our Pricing page is to be used as a guide only. Actual fees will be detailed in the offer or can be viewed on the different outfitter pages.

Also refer to the "hidden costs" page.
