Location
Woodlands Safaris is an unfenced private concession of 30000 acres extent,
bordering the Matetsi Safari Area and in close proximity to two National
Parks. The hunting camp is approximately 30 minutes drive from Victoria Falls.
The camp itself is situated on a well wooded ridge overlooking a permanent
water hole with a commanding view to the north east - the spray from Victoria
Falls can be seen approximately 25km away in the east. Lions are frequently
heard at night and a wide variety of game is attracted to the waterhole below
the camp on a daily basis.
Woodlands Safari Camp comprises 4 permanent double lodges. Accommodation
is first class in tent-under-thatch lodges on raised teak platforms. Each
lodge is en suite with hot showers, flush toilets, washbasins and solar power
lighting supply. The camp has a well appointed communal dining area which
is served by experienced staff from a large kitchen set a convenient distance
in the background. A generator supplies 220-240AC power during the day for
charging videos, deep freezes, water pump etc.
Hunting conditions
The concession is approximately 3200 feet above sea level and comprises broken
country with teak forests and riverine valleys. Water is permanent throughout
the year thus drawing a wide variety of species to the area especially during
the dry months from May to November. Hunting can be carried out all year
but we recommend the dry months as the best time for safaris.
There is an abundance of elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard and plains game
available. The no.1 sable was shot just outside the boundary of this prime
concession a few years ago.
Hunts of 10 to 21 days are available. They are structured according to the
number of quality animals desired.
-
Buffalo and one cat on a 14 day safari,
-
Buffalo and two cats on an 18 day safari,
-
Elephant and all other allowed on a 21 day safari,
-
Sable only available on a 14 day hunt.
