Andy Webb of Spurwing Safaris operates Kaingwe Safari Camp - located on the shores of Lake Kariba in the Matusadona National Park. Andy is one of Zimbabwe's most reputable Professional Guides and specialises in exclusive photographic and walking safaris.

Andy is a popular and highly experienced naturalist - one of the longest standing safari operators in Matusadona.

Kaingwe is ideally suited to specialist wildlife enthusiasts and photographers and is offered on an exclusive basis only.

We recommend that interested parties make reservations well in advance - speak to Trish or Nikki in Kariba.

Kaingwe Safari Camp

Kaingwe is a six-bedded camp comprising three twin mosquito proofed cottage tents on raised platforms under thatch. All rooms have ensuite facilities, standard beds, electric lighting and fans for the hotter part of the season. All rooms have a magnificent view across the lake into the Matusadona Mountains. The camp offers privacy and exclusivity.

Game activities are varied, with a choice of walks, game drives, game cruises and Sanyati Gorge trips. (The walks and drives are carried out on the mainland in the Matusadona National Park.) We also offer fishing for those who would like to try their hand at bagging the famed Tigerfish.

  • The usual day starts at dawn with early morning tea or coffee and the guests are away with our resident Professional Guide for most of the morning.
  • On return there is a full English breakfast/brunch waiting to be served under the open thatched dining room.
  • Midday is normally spent at leisure after which tea is served before embarking on the afternoon game-viewing trip either by boat or Landrover. (Matusadona is particularly well known for its combination of water and/or land based safari activities). These trips end at sunset with sundowner drinks.
  • Back at camp there is a hot bucket shower waiting and long cold refreshing drinks in front of the camp fire. Dinner is served after guests are refreshed from the day's safari. A campfire under the stars is a fitting day's end to one of the Zambezi Valley's most highly rated locations and camps.

We make every effort to cater for our guest's specific needs and request that we be advised in advance of any particular preferences for walking, birding etc. Special dietary preferences are catered for without difficulty and should also be advised in advance.

We have a 30-foot cruiser boat on standby at a Marina in Kariba for exclusive transfers across the lake to Kaingwe Camp. The trip takes approximately 50 minutes and drinks are served en route. We can also arrange for guests to be collected from Kariba Airport by bus to connect with the boat transfer on request.
