Giraffe Springs main complex interior - Hwange, Zimbabwe

As the flaming red sun dips below the horizon, casting brilliant hues of warm and pastel colours across the clear sky, weary animals take their last sips from Hwange's life sustaining water holes, before making off into the thick bush for the night.

The sky turns from orange to purple and then dark sets in - the only image of the silent elephant's movement is his black reflection on the glimmering starlit surface of the waterhole.

The crisp air makes you shiver and the day's game parade draws to an end. Back in camp, guests are seated around the long dining table and stories of Hwange's magnificent array of wildlife are recounted.

Later as you lie in the classic splendour of your tent, your reminiscing mind races with excitement - and your heart pounds as you listen to the sounds of the African night.
