Cash ATM machine reactivated Victoria Falls - 25 September 2009
At present only VISA is accepted, Mastercard will be accepted soon.
Barclays is the only bank in Victoria Falls with this facility now – so cash may not always be available, and should not be totally relied upon. It is expected the Standard Bank ATM will be up and running soon as well.
US$, South African Rands and Botswana Pula are still the currency used in shops at the moment – this includes South African and Botswana coins. Used as change. So clients travelling up via South Africa and Botswana first should hang on to their coins! Unfortunately American Dimes are not accepted though, we've tried!
You get the best rate for dollars and rand, when shopping in Zimbabwe, but the Rand rate for booking activities is not so good.
Fishing fever about to strike - 14 September 2009
Yellow Fever is about to strike.
Mid November marks the start of one of Southern Africa’s truly unique fly fishing seasons – sight fishing to Small and Large Mouth Yellow fish on the crystal clear waters of Sterkfontein.
With a shore line of over a hundred kilometres, this high altitude body of water offers arguably the finest fresh water sight fishing Africa has to offer, on par with top international destinations. The crystal clear water, combined with a healthy yellow fish population make this destination a firm favourite amongst all fly anglers who are privileged enough to hunt her waters.
Situated on the Drakensberg escarpment, Sterkfontein is true “big sky country”. Stalking 2 – 8lb small mouth yellow fish, watching them smash your hopper pattern before running off 30 meters of backing is as pure as fly fishing gets.
We are offering professionally guided 2 – 5 night packages with professional guides. All licensed skippers, have an in-depth knowledge of this complex fishery making sure you get the most out of a trip to this world class venue.
