Spring arrives in Matobo Hills - 26 September 2011
Spring has arrived in the Matobo Hills National Park near Bulawayo in Zimbabwe. The cassia trees are in full bloom and its a lovely time of the year to visit.
Matobo Hills has an incredible diversty of vegetation due to the significant variation in soil type, rainfall and altitude. In the Easter Matobo Hills (high rainfall) there is a wonderful selection of orchids as well as species of ficus trees that should only be found in the Okavango Delta.
The area is great for mountain biking amongst other activities including walking with rhino and the highest population of black eagles in the world.
Big Cave Camp has recently announced its newly renovated chalets are ready for visitors and there are two new camps sites for private vehicles. Its worth heading here to see the spectacular rock formations, take advantage of the photographic opportunities provided at sunrise and simply just enjoying this UNESCO world heritage site.
Dugong Emergency Protection Project - 15 September 2011
Marlin Lodge announces their official appointment as a Patron Supporter of the Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT).
The EWT will soon be launching their Dugong Emergency Protection project from the forthcoming guest and community Interactive Environmental Centre (exclusively) based at Marlin Lodge. The lodge will soon host EWT's Dugong Project manager as an in-house conservation expert to inform and educate guests about the surrounding marine environment, and the resident endangered dugongs. This will provide guest with an opportunity to experience the wonder and fragility of East Africa's last viable dugong population.

Henley Show, Oxfordshire - 9 September 2011
