Special interest safaris
We have an amazing collection of special interest safaris that take you into some lesser known parts of the vast African continent.
Most visitors come to Africa for a wildlife safari but the land is as diverse as it is large. There is much more on offer than big animals. Our team have walked the rain forests, slept under trees and gone without food and water now and again to explore this wonderful place. The result is our collection of special interest safaris. The true test of a real African specialist is those that offer much more than the standard safaris to the usual places.
We arrange a range of special interest safaris and one of our favourites are our birding trips in Botswana, Uganda and Zimbabwe. Further south we visit the amazing landscapes of the Namibian deserts and coastline on the Hoanib Skeleton Coast Safari. This remote area is unforgettable with dramatic landscapes, shipwrecks and seal colonies.
Ethiopia offers a truly unique opportunity to experience a rich tapestry of history, culture and incredible scenery. Visitors interested in Africa’s ancient cultures will be enthrall visiting the Omo Valley tribes, as they offer rare glimpses into a way of life that is rapidly changing.
Swing your eyes across the map of Africa to the west, and look out for Sao Tome and Principe Islands. Here there’s the opportunity to get involved in research projects with sea turtles. On the eastern coastline we sail down the Mozambique coastline on traditional dhows, snorkelling, fishing and meeting the locals.
For the more intrepid travelers, the mysterious Congo provides the ultimate adventure. Track the endangered Western Lowland gorillas on our Odzala-Congo expedition. Staying with the primate theme we arrange mountain gorilla treks in Uganda and Rwanda, and chimpanzees in Tanzania. Sign up to our Lemurs and Wild Things to discover a collection of lemurs, plants and trees that are completely unique to this part of the world.
