Where is it?

This piece of land, discovered by the Portuguese in 1470, lies in the middle of the world just off the coast of West Africa and falls under mainland Gabon.
What is the best time of year to go?

From March to May, blue skies and sunshine are the norm although this is a land of microclimates; at any time of the year there could be rain or cloudy skies. From June to September the weather is generally cooler which is suitable for trekkers.
How to get there

Direct flights from Lisbon, Portugal, are the best way to access the islands. There are also scheduled flights from Libreville, Gabon which are less reliable.
The local currency is dobras, but Euros and US dollars are accepted at tourist outlets. Visas are required and must be pre-arranged prior to arrival.
Tips and Notes

Prior to colonisation, the islands were covered in rainforests dense with vegetation and wildlife. Sugar plantations followed by coffee and cocoa plantations replaced a large proportion of the forests but plenty of endemic species remain of both fauna and flora. Hiking is a popular activity along with regular beach activities.
The price includes: bed/breakfast accommodation in a family room; airport transfers.
The price excludes: lunch, dinner, snacks, tea/coffee, all drinks, Visas, activities, international flights, travel and medical insurance.
