Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda - 4 days/3 nights
Where is it?
Murchison Falls National Park, in the north-west of Uganda is the country's largest national park. Home to elephant, buffalo, lion and leopard, as well as a healthy population of hippo and huge crocodiles on the River Nile. Chimp trekking in the Budongo Forest nearby is also available.
What is the best time of year to go?
Uganda lies on the equator and consequently has a warm climate year round; seasonal temperatures are insignificant. The main factor to consider is the rainfall as there are two wet seasons - April/May and October to December when hiking, camping and road access can be difficult.
Our advice is to travel to Murchison Falls during the drier periods, as game viewing will be easier during these months.
How to get there
The safari starts and ends in Entebbe or Kampala. You will be picked up from your hotel and driven to Murchison Falls, a 6 - 7hr road transfer with the possibility of visiting the Rhino Sanctuary en route.
Stops in villages and local craft stalls is part of the experience and most enjoyable as the Ugandan people are hospitable and welcoming in general.
