This is probably the best area for game viewing in the whole of Botswana which means it could be Africa's finest concession for seeing wildlife. Over 300 000 hectares of wilderness, all managed under strong conservation principles. Owned by a small group of friends, the entire area is carefully researched with the goal of improving all aspects of its conservation into a truly untouched African paradise for animals.
Where is it?
It is a 300,000 acre private wildlife sanctuary in the Northern part of Botswana, and what makes it unique is that it is shared by a maximum of 32 guests at any time.
What is the best time of year to go?
All three camps are open year round. Below are some general notes on the climate/weather in Botswana:
As with many African safari destinations the best time for big game viewing is during the drier, winter months (July, August, and September). For bird watchers, November to March is without doubt the best period.
The champagne months of May and June are delightful; just before the main rush of tourists begins, with clear skies and lingering green bush, and fat, well-fed animals at the end of the rainy season.
How to get there
All access to camp is by air charter from any number of airstrips in Botswana and we will include these transfers when we finalise your booking to the camp.
Tips and Notes
There is no routine at Selinda but most game viewing is driven by best times to see the wildlife, game movements and the weather.
The hides built during 2008, are available at all times and particularly suitable during siesta periods, where an elevated view over looking a waterway enhances viewings considerably.
The Selinda guides continually undergo training and are some of the finest in the business.
There are three camp options at Selinda with two pricing levels depending on the season.
