Victoria Falls and Botswana Classic

Victoria Falls Zambian side, Chobe NP and Savuti - 10 days/9 nights
Highly recommended for a once in a lifetime experience.
This excellent trip combines three of The Big Ones to visit and is highly recommended by us as one of our choice safaris. Victoria Falls is so well-known and combines very well with the huge elephant herds of Chobe National Park in Botswana. Combine this with the big game herds and predators found in the Savuti area rounding off an excellent safari.
Where is it?

The visit to Victoria Falls takes place on the Zambian side of the river (change to the Zimbabwe side is easily possible). Passing through the Kazangula Border Post where 4 countries meet Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia and Namibia, the safari takes you to Chobe National Park and then to a private concession in the Savute - area of choice for film makers.
What is the best time of year to go?

As with many African safari destinations the best time for big game viewing is during the drier, winter months (July, August, and September). For bird watchers, November to March is without doubt the best period.
The champagne months of May and June are delightful; just before the main rush of tourists begins, with clear skies and lingering green bush, and fat, well-fed animals at the end of the rainy season.

Muchenje Lodge, Chobe National Park, Botswana

The owner run and managed Muchenje Lodge is situated in the west of Chobe National Park on an escarpment overlooking the Chobe River and with a spectacular view over vast plains. As the lodge is situated in the Chobe Forest Reserve night drives and walks are possible.
The main dining area includes a bar, viewing platforms and decks and a small gift shop. The swimming pool provides a tranquil place in the heat of the day and takes full advantage of the views.
Each of the 11 twin-bedded en-suite rooms are comfortably furnished with the emphasis on African decor and include mosquito nets and fans. Twin basins, showers with day long hot water and flushing loos complete the bathroom facilities. From the balcony is a lovely view over the escarpment and down into the valley below.
Savuti Camp, Botswana
Savuti Camp has front-row seats to view the abundant game that has congregated and adapted in the wake of the returned waters of the channel. The site of the camp is 17 kilometres 'downstream' from the Zibadianja Lagoon - the source of the channel.
This intimate camp's en-suite accommodation is in 7 large Meru-style walk-in tents raised off the ground. From the thatched dining area and pub, a plunge pool and large viewing area with fire pit extend on raised wooden decks towards the waters. Activites are day and night game drives and nature walks with a guide (on request). Several elevated hides can also be visited.
