Thorntree Lodge is situated on the northern banks of the Zambezi River, 15 kilometres upstream from the Victoria Falls.

WILDLIFE

Common sightings within the Mosi - O - Tunya National Park are White Rhino, Giraffe, Impala, Zebra, Wildebeest, Buffalo and a wide variety of birds.

ACCOMMODATION

  • Six - twin bedded tent under thatch lodges with en-suite shower, toilet and hand basin.

  • Double lodge with en-suite shower, toilet and hand basin and a private deck overlooking the Zambezi River.

  • All lodges have a verandah with deck chairs and a private view of the river.

FACILITIES

  • A central lounge / dining area overlooking the Zambezi River.

ACTIVITIES

  • morning and evening river cruises (on a pontoon)

  • game drives to the Mosi - O - Tunya National Park

  • fishing (rods and tackle are not provided)

  • cultural visits

  • visits to the Victoria Falls

 

TRANSFERS

  • Clients can fly into either Livingstone or Victoria Falls International Airport where they will be met and transferred by road to the Lodge - taking approximately forty minutes from the Victoria Falls Airport, including customs and immigration formalities at the Zambian border post. It is approximately fifteen minutes from Livingstone Airport.

  • Clients may also drive direct to the Lodge.

MINIMUM/MAXIMUM PAX

  • No minimum number of pax.

  • Maximum: 14 pax.

MINIMUM / MAXIMUM AGE

  • Minimum age: 12 years

  • Maximum age: No maximum age.

CLIENT REQUIREMENTS

If travelling from Zimbabwe: customs and immigration formalities must be cleared. Facilitation at both border posts has been organised to speed up this process.

  1. Double entry visa for Zimbabwe - if required.

  2. Return air tickets or vehicle registration particulars - if required.

  3. Zambian visas: Passport holders which do not need visas are Canadian, Australian, New Zealand, most African countries, South African.Most other passport holders therefore need visas which can be obtained at the border for anything from US$ 10.00 to US$ 25.00. However, Danish, Swedish and Finnish clients need to obtain visas from a Zambian Embassy before entering. These passport holders CANNOT obtain visas from the border post. British Passport holders travelling across the border with Safari Par Excellence (a registered Zambian Tour Operator) do not require visas.

  4. Health documents (cholera / Yellow Fever is recommended).

  5. Advise Safari Par Excellence of any dietary requirements.
