The following is a listing of vessels operating from Kariba - each vessel here has been totally proven time and time again.

Unless otherwise stated:

  • Prices are quoted in South African Rands at standard agent rates, effective 1 February 1998

  • All catering costs ZAR100 per person per day (3 meals, teas, snacks, cleaning materials etc.)

  • Drinks are on a sale and return basis (you pay for your drink order on arrival and receive a credit for returns on departure).

  • Prices are exclusive of National Parks fees payable in cash on departure from the harbour. Current rates (subject to change without notice) are:

    • Entry per day: Z$50 per person
    • Fishing per day: Z$10 per person


"Navistar" - Super reliable, one of the best
  • 65' pontoon houseboat with twin motors

  • Accommodates 10 passengers in three cabins (two double and one twin) with additional sleeping space on top deck, has 2 toilets and showers (main en-suite)

  • Large galley and dining area on aft lower deck

  • Has a swimming cage and two tenders

  • Top deck has a spacious bar and comfortable seating area

  • Rods, bait and tackle are not supplied - available on request

  • The 3 man crew is well recognised as being one of the best on the lake

  • Price ZAR1850 per day - book well in advance for holiday season


"De Witte Oliphant" - ideal for smaller groups
  • 45' monohull cruiser with single marine diesel engine

  • Accommodates 6 passengers in one cabin sleeping 4, a double bed conversion in the saloon and sleeping space on the top deck, has shower and separate toilet plus a shower on the rear deck

  • Has a 16' runabout as its tender boat

  • Rods, bait and tackle are not supplied - available on request

  • A 2 man crew with private quarters

  • Price ZAR1300 per day


"Kuraura" - A well run and suberbly maintained vessel
  • 55' monohull cruiser with single marine diesel engine

  • Accommodates 8 passengers in two cabins, saloon conversion and sleeping space on the top deck, has shower and separate toilet

  • Mid section has comfortable lounge/dining area with the wheel house and galley

  • Has 3 x 13' tenders Rods, bait and tackle are not supplied - available on request A 3 man crew with private quarters

  • Price ZAR1650 per day


"Shangri-La" - A fantastic boat for those wanting a bit of luxury
  • 55' monohull cruiser with twin motors

  • Accommodates 8 passengers in two double cabins (main en suite) with sleeping space on the top deck, has additional shower and separate toilet

  • Has a spacious aft deck with dining area. Comfortable saloon is equipped with TV/video and Sound System.

  • Saloon and cabins are air conditioned

  • Has 2 x 13' tenders

  • Rods, bait and tackle are not supplied - available on request

  • ]2 or 3 man crew with private quarters (depending upon group size)

  • Price ZAR2000 per day - book well in advance


"Morning Star" - ideal for a group of 10 on a budget
  • 60' pontoon houseboat with single motor

  • Accommodates 10 passengers in two cabins, a saloon conversion and additional sleeping space on top deck, has 1 toilet and shower

  • Has a large top sundeck and small front deck with table and chairs

  • Has a 16' tender Rods, bait and tackle are not supplied - available on request

  • Has a competent crew of 2

  • Price ZAR1300 per day


"Golden Mariner" - ideal for a large group requiring lots of space
  • Spacious 70' flat bottomed houseboat with twin motors

  • Accommodates 12 passengers in four well appointed twin cabins and additional sleeping space on top deck

  • Has a very comfortable dining area at the front of the boat plus a large lounge with built in bar and entertainment centre

  • Has a Bermuda deck with a swimming cage

  • Rods, bait and tackle are not supplied - available on request

  • Has an excellent crew of 3

  • Price ZAR2200 per day - book at least a year in advance


"Queen II" - the best budget vessel on the Lake, with the finest "old salt"
  • 38' Cruiser, accommodates 6 passengers in 8 sleeping berths in 1 cabin with 4 bunks plus deck beds.

  • Hosted personally by Barry Simpson with 24 years of experience on the lake.

  • Undoubtedly the best value for money budget vessel on the lake - if you want a personalised experience with one of the "old salts" of the lake then "Batonka" Barry is the best man you could ask for!

  • Has two tenders and fishing rods - bring or buy your own tackle.

  • Priced at US$200 per night, boat and fuel. Catering at US$15 per person per day excluding drinks.


"Concorde" - The Penthouse (Rob Beaton's Dream) - unquestionably the best vessel on Lake Kariba
  • 90' Luxury Cruiser, accommodates 14 passengers in 7 double en-suite cabins

  • 5 star luxury appointments, "state of the art", fully air conditioned throughout, beautiful saloon, entertainment centre, large Jacuzzi, wet bikes etc. etc.

  • Priced at US$2750 all inclusive - must be booked well in advance between July and December


"Peregrine" and "Shikra" - Two identical vessels
  • 65' Pontoon houseboats, accommodating 16 passengers each with 6 double cabins and deck beds.

  • Have splash pools and swimming cages plus two tenders each.

  • Guide price US$800 per day plus US$40 per person per day catering


"Osprey" - for the big party!
  • 90' Pontoon houseboat, accommodating 28 passengers with 10 double cabins and 2 family rooms plus deck beds.
